- Use the Select All Pages button in the toolbar to quickly select every page in the document
- The page counter in the toolbar updates to show total pages and selected pages
- Only selected pages will be included in the output PDF you download
All splitting is performed using JavaScript (pdf-lib) directly in your browser. Your PDF is not uploaded to a remote server or stored by LeanTul. This makes the tool suitable for splitting sensitive reports, contracts, or personal documents.
Browser-based processing offers several advantages:
- Complete privacy: Your PDFs never leave your device
- Offline capability: Once the page loads, you can split PDFs even without an internet connection
- Instant processing: No upload/download delays or bandwidth limitations
- No file size limits: Process PDFs of any size without server restrictions (though very large files may take longer depending on your device)
Splitting PDFs is useful when you need to send only part of a document, separate sections for different recipients, or extract specific pages for reference. Typical use cases include:
- Extracting signed signature pages: Pull out just the signed pages from a contract or agreement
- Splitting large reports: Break down lengthy reports into smaller, more manageable files
- Separating invoices: Extract individual invoices from a batch PDF for accounting
- Pulling out chapters: Extract a single chapter or section from a long document for sharing
- Creating presentation handouts: Select specific slides from a PDF presentation
If you need to merge PDF files back into a single document, you can use our PDF merge tool to combine multiple PDFs with drag-and-drop ordering.
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. All PDF splitting happens locally in your browser using client-side code. Your PDFs are not uploaded or stored by LeanTul.
Can I choose which PDF pages to extract?
Yes. Each page appears as a card you can click to select or deselect. Only the selected pages will be included in the new PDF you download.
Will splitting a PDF change page quality?
No. The tool creates a new PDF from the original pages without re-rendering them, so visual quality stays the same.
